Hong Kong Bing Sutt, Burwood

Bing Sutt refers to a Hong Kong Style coffee house, whose menu consist of a fusion of both Hong Kong and western cuisine.

So when I came across Hong Kong Bing Sutt on Instagram, it was the fancy HK style milk tea in a hipster glass bottle that got my attention, and with my love for Hong Kong, I knew I had to visit and share my experience with you all.

We visited the coffee house around 5 pm on a Thursday, avoiding the peak hour rush. The coffee house was a lot smaller than I had anticipated, there was only around half a dozen booths, and a few tables to accommodate for bigger groups. We were greeted with a friendly smile by the staff when we entered, and a hand gesture to note, sit anywhere you want, we choose a booth. The staff then proceeded to hand us a form with a pencil for ordering.

The menu at Hong Kong Bing Sutt is quite extensive, and has all your Hong Kong favourites from HK Style French toast to macaroni in tomato sauce, but we already knew what we were

coming here to order.

First order up, the famous HK style milk tea, we opted for the cold version, which came served in a glass bottle chilled (you can also opt for the hot option as well). The tea was strong, milky and had the right balance of sweetness for us. The bottle was abit on the smaller size, but gave you around 2 cups of tea.

Enough of the tea, time for food, we ordered the pineapple bun with pork luncheon and egg, hain-nan style boneless chicken with rice, baked pork chop with fried rice and finished off with the French toast.

The pineapple bun with pork luncheon and egg was delicious, when it arrived at the table, the egg yolk was already oozing out of the side causing quite an excitement. The bread bun itself was, light and fluffy, and the pineapple topping, flaky and sweet

Extremely happy with the first dish, we moved over to hain-nan style boneless chicken with rice, this dish was simple yet comforting with all your standard accomplishments. The chicken rice was tasty and moreish, but leaning more towards the drier side. The chicken itself was moist and tender, however it was served cold, which wasn’t too our personal liking, but delicious either way.

Baked pork chop with fried rice – this was the dish we had been waiting for!!

It arrived in a casserole dish on a wooden board, piping hot, and looking oh soo fine. The dish consists of a bed of egg fried rice, covered in a rich tomato sauce, topped with melted cheese and fried pork. Not much was said whilst we were eating, but the actions of head nodding, and grunts of satisfaction said it all.

To finish off on a sweet note, we got the French toast.

The French toast was filled with thin layer of peanut butter, fried to a golden perfection. It was both sweet and salty, crispy and buttery and definitely a great way to end our meal at Hong Kong Bing Sutt.

Overall, we had a great time dining at Hong Kong Bing Sutt, the service was friendly and the food was delicious and affordable. As we were leaving, the restaurant was starting to fill up with crowds, so best to get in early and avoid the queues.

We will be back for more HK style milk tea and baked pork chop with fried rice!!
